Slow and Steady

Wow.. So my writing has been going really slow.  At the moment, I’ve been averaging only about 3k words per month.  Yeah… I said month…  I’ve been very fortunate to have a preexisting story that I continue to revisit every few years, and it is now totaling somewhere around 25k words (~70 pages).  Nearly all of those pages make up the first act of the book.  I had to re-factor some parts of the story that I felt were not adding to the plot and it inevitable shaved off a few chapters.  Still, I am happy that I was able to turn an old short story of mine into something much greater.

Crunching the numbers however, at a rate of 3k words per month, I am looking at a minimum of one year to finish the book.  I was really hoping to have the book done by mid-year, which means I need to kick it into high gear.  My only reason for pushing for the mid-year deadline is to avoid spending an entire year outside of my game development loop.  I kind of took last year off to market Zombpocalypse, but I’d hate to go two years without any mention of game projects =( or at least some technology research.

Still, my fingers are crossed that you guys will be interested in the book.  I think it’s pretty great so far, but I might be biased.  I may have an awesome artist lined up to do the cover art and I’m hoping to do some kind of cross promotion.  Maybe I’ll hold some kind of contest… I don’t know =), that is so far away that I shouldn’t focus on it just yet.  If you get any ideas for a cool giveaway for people who purchase the book, let me know!
